1. Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin is highly water-soluble at room
temperature, generally exceeding 100%, so it cannot crystallize in
alcohol-water solution.
2. Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin can promote the rapid release of
encapsulated substances in the body.
3. Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin and beta-cyclodextrin have
different selectivity for encapsulated substances, and the
molecular ratio of encapsulated substances may change.
4. Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin has lower surface activity and
hemolytic activity than beta-cyclodextrin or other derivatives
(such as methylated beta-cyclodextrin), and is safer to use.
5. Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin is basically not decomposed or
accumulated in the human body. Most of the oral hydroxypropyl
beta-cyclodextrin is excreted from the body with feces, and it is
basically excreted from the body with urine when administered
parenterally.

Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD, HPBCD) is a type of
hydroxyalkylated hydrophilic derivative formed by the condensation
of β-CD and propylene oxide. It is a white or off-white amorphous
or crystalline powder; odorless; strong hygroscopicity. This
product is highly soluble in water or propylene glycol, easily
soluble in methanol or ethanol, and almost insoluble in a.cetone or
chloroform.
